Athens to Host the Federal Committee of the Union of European Federalists (UEF)
Deepening European Integration and Institutional Reform at the Heart of the Debate – 21–23 November 2025
Athens, 28 October 2025
The Union of European Federalists (UEF), in cooperation with UEF Greece, is proud to announce that the next Federal Committee Meeting will take place in Athens from 21 to 23 November 2025.
The three-day event will be held in person and will bring together Federal Committee members and observers from across Europe, as well as Members of the European Parliament, former Prime Ministers, European Commissioners, members of the Hellenic Parliament, and distinguished public figures committed to advancing the federal future of Europe.
High-Level Opening Ceremony at the Hellenic Parliament
The meeting will open on Friday, 21 November 2025, with a high-level ceremony hosted at the Hellenic Parliament (17:30–20:30), organized in cooperation with the Spinelli Group.
The event will feature keynote interventions from Members of the European Parliament, senior EU and national officials, and European thought leaders.
The central theme of the Opening Ceremony will be:
“Deepening European Integration: From Flexibility to Institutional Unity”
Discussions will focus on the key strategic priorities for the future of the Union:
- The European budget and fiscal governance
- Enlargement and accession of new Member States
- European security and defence
- Social cohesion, sustainable growth, and competitiveness
- Institutional reforms for a stronger and more democratic Union
Greece at the Core of the European Debate
The Athens meeting holds particular significance as it comes ahead of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2027, underlining Greece’s role as an active and reliable partner in shaping Europe’s future.
A special highlight will be the presentation of an initiative to establish a Federalist Group within the Hellenic Parliament, aimed at strengthening institutional dialogue and enhancing Greece’s contribution to a more cohesive and visionary European Union.

We will open the programme of the weekend with an important political discussion in the Greek Parliament on the main challenges currently faced by the European Union. After a long period of deep economic crisis, Greece is back and ready to contribute towards a strong, more democratic and inclusive European Union. 75 years after the Schumann Declaration, it is time now to launch from Athens a political campaign for the necessary Treaty changes for a European Federation”.
